Supports 20 competitive sports teams, open and structured recreation (payroll and infrastructure), intramurals and sports clubs. Effective at the end of the spring 2017 season, UB reduced the number of its intercollegiate athletic programs by four. After the reduction, the UB athletics department is composed of these 16 sports: football, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, wrestling, women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's cross country, women's soccer and men’s and women’s track and field (indoor and outdoor).
